44th Annual Festival of Trees and Traditions
The Festival of Trees and Traditions is the Wadsworth's second biggest fundraiser of the year, running for ten days and garnering nearly 10,000 visitors during that time.
The organizers reached out to us for help repairing a 6 foot tall LEGO® Christmas tree for use during the event, but it has blossomed into so much more. We've been given an area roughly 25 ft by 25 ft, with the tree set to be the centerpiece.
On 19 November, 2017 we will try to complete the vast majority of the setup for this event. Anyone who will be showcasing their builds is asked to attend this day to help us set up the LEGO Christmas tree and any other items that they wish to display. If for any reason set up is not completed by closing, we may have an opportunity to wrap up any loose ends on 26 November.
As with all shows, we're here to show off our creativity and what can be done with LEGO products. We will require staffing during the event to manage the display. This will require running the train around the base of the tree, building and displaying presents and ornaments, and managing the tables and displays upon them. We plan on running our display for two weekends, 2-3 December and 9-10 December. Registering for either as event staff would be a huge help to the club!
Engagement of Kids:
A primary goal of the Wadsworth with events like these is to engage kids and families. Each of the two weekend showings is intended to have a family focus. The museum will have coloring, storytelling, and with our help a LEGO play area. We will be offering some build demos such as a club build during these times. Another option is to take all of the ornaments off the tree and have kids make their own from our play brick.
If you are interested in this event, and can assist with set up on 19 November or either of the two display sessions on 2-3 December or 9-10 December, we ask that you please register for the sessions that you are able to attend. We welcome your MOCs and your holiday spirit to make this an awesome event for the Wadsworth and for ConnLUG!
